You voice a valid concern of the inferiority complexes that come along with being labelled. Students indeed perform better when their confidence levels remain intact. On the flip side, the diagnosis is what affords them the opportunity for help and progress. What do you think of those parents who avoid evaluation for fear of the label, thereby cutting themselves away from the intervention that can pull their child out of his/her rut?
